In many industries, in a variety of geographical areas, in Government and in commerce, we hear managers observe:

“When you train your people, they look round for another job and leave!”

If that is the case, “Try not training them, and see if they stay!”

Continuing development is about just that. It is sharing with the employee, at whatever level, the goals of the organization, asking them what they want to achieve within the organization, and then seeing what support or development they require to achieve that position.
